The Little Big Year: Week 40 – Last week in CR, and The Quetzal!

Our trip to Costa Rica has come to an end, and sadly, it ended with one of the best weeks of birding in the entire year. We spent to bulk of the week in the San Isidro El General area, staying there as well as up in the Quizarra area. His years of experience in this area were quite obvious as we found 62 species in one morning.

It has truly been an incredible honor joining the team here at 10,000 Birds. There in no question that the bird of the year for me, at least from a purely photographic stand point is the Black Skimmer. I caught this Lark Sparrow at San Blas, near Magdalena Bay , just as the sun was setting.
