After a bit of searching, I found that it appears to be part of an even longer commandment: “Rise and rise again until lambs become lions” This is pretty serious stuff coming from a can of beer; all I wanted was a drink, thank you. The Bible, possibly, with all this quasi-Messianic, New Testament talk of lambs and lions?

Last weekend, I went on a birding binge. I spent two full days where the birding was near constant, and, just to keep the binoculars from being neglected, topped it off with another half day of birding on our drive back from Cano Negro, Costa Rica. Like most of my birding weekends, this one began somewhere in the Central Valley.

April, while not as exciting a migratory month as May is in the northeastern United States, is still a great time of year to see migrating birds. White-throated Sparrow While the birds mentioned above are heading north others are just arriving in the area. If one is still in doubt, well, one look will quickly clinch the identification.

Prior to Jesus' death on the cross, animal sacrifices were a common and vital part of every family's worship experience. The animals took the place of humans.
