While I enjoy birding with others, I’ve never really been part of the warp and weft of a birding community. In particular, since I generally travel in late December, I had never participated in a Christmas Bird Count until Corey kindly invited me to take part this year. Gradually our list grew and grew.

San Francisco Considers Banning Pet Sales

Critter News

All companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and lizards would be considered as pets. Pet sales would be banned altogether, except for the sale of pet fish. If it passes, San Francisco residents would have to go to a shelter or rescue group to adopt an animal.

The Little Big Year-week 46: All this fun comes to an end

It ended with little fan fare; in fact I did not even go chasing birds on the last two days of 2018, as I am just plain tired. Not of the birds, but the seemingly endless early mornings, rarely sleeping in my own bed, and the pressure, mostly self imposed, to find yet one more bird. Overall World Ranking as per eBird.com 79th.
