Wildlife Rehabilitators vs. Bird Thieves

Crows, who are probably the most larcenous birds on earth, make off with anything they can get their beaks on. The crow in the photograph above is unreleasable and lives at Teatown Lake Reservation in New York. The crows are not friendly to humans, although they sometimes make an exception for the person who raised them.

The Warbler, the Birder, and the Bivalve

I haven’t found any articles on Atlantic Coast birds being injured by these dangerous mussels (which are also not very tasty to humans), so I’m thinking that our birds somehow know better. And, that ribbed mussels are only a threat in areas where they are invasive and birds don’t have this innate knowledge.
