It’s under the jurisdiction of the Exotic Species Division of the Department of Environmental Protection, which is a division of US Fish and Wildlife. You can own a gorilla in Indiana, but not a bear in Michigan. The bird is a captive-bred Peregrine/Gyrfalcon hybrid owned by people with an Exotic Species Permit.

I didn’t know the set up required for a black bear, or how high a Florida panther can actually jump. I do occasional rescues, though, because everyone still has my number. But I only rehabbed birds, so I had to do research and call my mammal rehabber friends. Your last post for 10,000 birds was in 2017. Are you still rehabbing birds?

A that point in time, I could not imagine the adventure that I was going to experience and how birds would have rescued me. Birds of different species gather in bird waves to improve foraging efficiency (the insect escaping one bird will most likely be caught by another bird of the wave) and increase protection against predators.
