They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). If not knowing this information any longer and thus suspecting you might be suffering from dementia, there are always some other animals around to facilitate assisted suicide.

They have great arch support and toe protection and are great for hiking. The one downside: they make your feet incredibly stinky, but if that’s what I must suffer for foot comfort, so be it. Hats are a must. I remember years ago when one of my sisters came with me on a birding trip to Idaho.
