Using ministerial connections he obtained 100 mallard eggs from the US and began to breed and distribute them. There are a lot of very threatened endemic species that aren’t found anywhere else, so why spend money saving an essentially unsalvageable species that is still common in Australia when you can spend the money on Kakapo?
