This is not totally animal-related, but I'll share anyway. Today I came across this strange article from NPR about the area. But this article seemed a little over the top to me. On an animal note, I will say that the treatment of animals is very bad in the Central Valley.

To the Editor: Re “ PETA’s Latest Tactic: $1 Million for Fake Meat ” (news article, April 21): The commercial development of meat from animal tissue won’t result in “fake meat” any more than cloning sheep results in fake sheep. coli bacteria or food additives. A more accurate name for the end result would therefore be “clean meat.”
