However, we did note signage that said if you travelling with an animal you would have to pay for twelve passengers and travel alone with your animal! There are plenty of lookouts and shelters, but there is no drinking water available at the toilet facilities, so you need to carry plenty of water.

Keep River National Park

There is an information shelter as you enter the park and then an information centre close to Cockatoo Lagoon a short distance in. We observed Zebra Finch, Long-tailed Finch, Masked Finch, Double-barred Finch, Star Finch and the rare Gouldian Finch … an uncommon red-headed male no less! Aboriginal cave drawings.

Striding Snake-killers

I’ve seen Secretarybirds zigzag after fleeing animals, spreading their huge wings periodically, presumably in an effort to maintain their balance as they twist and turn. On several occasions I’ve seen animals that are making a beeline towards shelter double-back when the wings are spread straight into their waiting talons.
