Where do Cook’s Petrels go to forage in the summer? Because its extremely difficult to conclusively demonstrate what any nonhuman animal is thinking or feeling, this lack (failure?) of understanding on our part has morphed into an assumption that animals are simply little robots, acting purely on instinct and nothing else.

These strange birds are two species in their own family; White-necked or Yellow-headed, endemic to the Upper Guinea forests and Grey-necked or Red-headed, restricted to Lower Guinea forests. The rare Rufous Fishing Owl was one of the many species seen by the group here. What are the chances of survival for these shy forest denizens?
