This is not entirely unknown among domestic animals, but many domesticates have no living wild version. Some time after the Spanish encounter with the Turkey, birds were brought back to Europe where they were raised and became an important source of food and fancy feathers. This is where they got their name.

And as the windblown birds settled down for the summer breeding season and the wind subsided, I found any concern for which way it was blowing died down with it. Of course, there may very well have been fowl-inspired weathervanes in ancient Greece and Rome. And living birds still seem to appreciate weathervanes as perches!

For you and me, there are about 200 bird species, but for proper tourists, there seem to be only five species in the reserve: Bengal Tiger , Leopard , Sloth Bear , Indian Wild Dog (Dhole) and the Gaur. It was time to feed the bird of prey who was about to be released and while the rehabber was speaking with the interviewer someone emerged from a walk-in freezer with a tray of baby chicks. My animal rescue-life has had many phases. I was watching a news segment on a wildlife rehabilitation center here in Florida.
