Portuguese City Tries to End Killing of Strays

Portugal is NOT known for its kindness to animals so this is a significant development for a Portuguese city. Under Portuguese legislation, stray and unwanted animals that are kept in municipal kennels, even healthy ones, can be put down after eight days if unclaimed. Tags: animal shelters portugal strays.

Brief commentary follows this e-mail I received regarding greyhounds, animal rights and Ireland. Back then I was a young child and never thought any different about greyhounds or indeed any other animal. He would not return for many hours. Thinking back still touch's me to the point where I feel so guilty-but I knew no different.
