How many people know this about the Animal Welfare Act? No wonder there is so much "farm" animal abuse out there. Humane treatment runs counter to the entire industry when the point is to make money by processing these animals as fast as possible. This is really interesting. I certainly didn't.

For some people, it is inhumane to eat meat in any situation, no matter how well the animal is treated prior to and during slaughter. For other people, “humane” means it is okay to eat the animal as long as the following conditions are met: 1. Tags: farm animal welfare factory farm agribusiness.

Bea directed me to an interview with Dr. Elizabeth Parker , the "chair man " (my emphasis) of the Animal Agriculture Alliance at CattleNetwork, which apparently is "The Source for Cattle News." "The Humane Society of the United States is the big bully on this strange playground. I wish their mission was to end animal agriculture.

The tiresome Hitler was a well-known vegetarian comment is included in this segment, but I found it irksome long before that. But there is a significant contingent who is not as enamored with the Laboratory Animal Welfare Act as he is. Isn't it better for science, and more humane, to use just one animal? Maybe on paper.

The number of chickens, turkeys, pigs, cattle and other animals raised and slaughtered in the United States has been growing steadily for decades. In 1950, each American consumed, on average, 144 pounds of animal flesh a year. This comes at an enormous cost to animal welfare, the environment and of course public health.
