MEXICO CITY – Animal rights activists staged a protest against the sale of pets in Mexico City, urging residents to adopt dogs and other animals instead of buying them. Mexico City, one of the world’s largest cities, has an estimated 3 million street dogs that end up being killed in shelters or the victims of human cruelty.

A funny, heart-warming video called “ SMILE ,” developed by “I’m Tired of” (ITo), the makers of the popular “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” bracelet, which raises money for animal rights and rescue charities, has reached viral levels. The bracelets are a natural to sell at events and on their websites.”

Next, a fellow introvert e-mailed me describing herself as extremely awkward socially as well as invisible and having social anxiety, and asking where/how she might be useful to the animal rights movement. Working or volunteering at an animal sanctuary or shelter or participating (or starting) a Trap-Neuter-Release effort, maybe?

Brief commentary follows this e-mail I received regarding greyhounds, animal rights and Ireland. Every day myself and other 'friends' went out of our way to terrify the poor helpless dog that used to live in this filthy run down shed for shelter. Need reminding why cruelty to animals is wrong?
