The commentator says that part of her winnings will go to abolish animal cruelty (yes, abolish). Interviewer: "Wait, so you want to abolish animal cruelty, except for chickens and fish, (pointing at the contestant) because she doesn't like them?". I think you actually support animal cruelty." Well, sort of.

The only real concern comes from the spread of illness to humans from eating diseased meat, but they only need to provide minimal care to avoid that. Tags: animal cruelty pigs pork farm animal welfare factory farm animal welfare. There is no economic motivation to treat them well or to care about their wellbeing.

How many people know this about the Animal Welfare Act? No wonder there is so much "farm" animal abuse out there. The only cool thing is that Gene Bauer's views on the meat industry are so similar to those expressed on this blog a few weeks ago. Most animals in the U.S. I certainly didn't.

Herzog states, “The awkward fact is that most wanton animal cruelty is not perpetrated by inherently bad kids but by normal children who will eventually grow up to be good citizens” (34). . The campaign to moralize meat has largely been a failure. But I’m merely making his point.

I long for the realistic hope that one second will pass without torture and slaughter and enslavement, and I know perfectly well that that second, despite Earth Days and Earth Hours and Meat-Free Days, isn't going to happen. In other words, I don't immerse myself in animal cruelty. People are simply too selfish. What to do.

With 30% of Americans being morbidly obese and another 30+% being seriously overweight, with 50% of Americans suffering from coronary artery disease, with red meat increasingly linked to colorectal, esophageal, liver, and lung cancers , perhaps it's time that beefsteaks go the way of the Edsel.
