The sky cracked open as we ascended into the modest hills of Trinidad’s Northern Range. Alas, he was gone before I had a chance to lift my camera. It glared at something in the leaf litter (is there any other way raptors look at anything?) As we say here, de road wash ‘wey. But certainly not impossible. ISO12800.

Uncharacteristically Wet

Alas, nothing showed until there was a brief break in the shower and a Golden-crowned Warbler materialized in the leaf litter just in front of me. My wife retired to catch up on some lost sleep in the car as the rain swelled. Belligerent as always I stayed out, binoculars in the branches, hoping for something – anything really.
