Definitely my personal favorite of Africa’s pink birds is the delicate Pink-throated Twinspot. There are certainly some stunners involved. Pink-throated Twinspot.

What is a Palm-thrush?

They are a single genus, Cichladusa , with three species, found mostly in Central and Eastern Africa. They are also found in patches of Zimbabwe and Mozambique, and also north through Zambia, the Congo and Tanzania (just poking into Kenya). They have been considered closest to the alethes, but even that relationship is tenuous.

The diminutive Tinkerbirds are Africa’s smallest barbets, depicted here is Red-fronted Tinkerbird photographed at Lalibela, Ethiopia.
