Birding Shanghai in December 2022

This year, it seems I wrote one post on birding in Shanghai each month – and I am still not even sure anyone is interested in these. Probably the most interesting bird this month was a Grey-headed Canary-Flycatcher showing up in the Shanghai Botanical Garden. I know – sexism is very common in the birding world.

I’ve been dragging my feet on wine reviews here at Booze and Birds for quite some time. Not that I haven’t been searching: by now I have a good backlog of bird-bedecked bottles that I’ve picked up over the last few months, just waiting for the right moment to uncork. This is a bird deserving respect.

Proposed Changes to Migratory Bird Treaty Act – Part III

As described in prior posts , the Trump Administration spent four years attempting to change the interpretation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). The changes revolved around something called “incidental take,” which is an activity that harm or kills birds incidental to its purpose. Public comments were overwhelmingly opposed.
