Portuguese City Tries to End Killing of Strays

From the Portugal News Online. Under Portuguese legislation, stray and unwanted animals that are kept in municipal kennels, even healthy ones, can be put down after eight days if unclaimed. Generally, those that have been there for a longer period are destroyed as the kennels reach maximum capacity, to accommodate new arrivals.

I doubt caring for strays in Belarus is an easy task , so kudos to these people for the work they do. They also put up a tent to collect donations, such as pet food, cages, collars and other pet supplies, for stray and abandoned animals kept at the shelters. Free consultations by veterinary physicians also were available.
