I do not get too many comments on my blog posts, but it seems that whenever I write about jacanas – whether in Africa, Australia, or Asia – there is an unusually high number of reactions (well, maybe one or two rather than the usual zero) from female readers. This is ok as birds do not have teeth anyway).

The Cattle Egret is native to Africa, where it is a familiar sight among herds of large mammals. In the east, this species can be found along the east coast of Africa, the Nile Valley,and into parts of the middle east and India and southeast Asia. I’d like to introduce you to a diminutive heron, the Cattle Egret Bubuclus ibis.

These areas, as well as being famous for the afore-mentioned near-endemics, are also home to long isolated populations of birds otherwise only found in East Africa to the north and South Africa to the south. End result – precious birding time lost and 43 adopted African kids.

Soon after, Williams retired and moved out of state, and Eric was arrested by the Texas Rangers for a combination of credit card fraud (something about a fake field school for high schoolers in Orange Walk Town) and child abandonment. So that was the first argument for a scavenging phase. Eland are pretty darn hard to hunt.
