I’m not sure if I already was claustrophobic , or if the circumstances merely traumatized me to the point I became one, right there and then. The next day we tried mist netting the cave entrance, and the day after I abandoned the project entirely. I think we caught perhaps three bats.

It has a small population of approximately 1100 people and is a major hub for the local indigenous people and for the cattle industry. Old Halls Creek as a town-site was abandoned by 1954 and everybody had moved to the new site of Halls Creek where an airfield had been built in 1948. Spinifex Pigeons through the windscreen.

Aplomado Twitch in Costa Rica

They are the Desert Wheatears and Siberian Thrushes that abandon all reason and fly to Britain (maybe they heard about the UK Birdfair ?). In fact, right now, in all likelihood, there probably are a few Aplomados up that way hunting in some far off fields never visited by birders. Happy birders looking at an Aplomado Falcon.

He started frolicking with abandon in the dried green moss at the base of Bob, our resident Spathophylum.
