The other day, Minneapolis, Minnesota passed a feral cat ordinance. So I put together a “carnival” (of sorts) of Feral Cat Ordinances and Issues that samples current events across the US. From the Star Tribune : Feral cats win a round at Minneapolis City Hall. This got me wondering what other cities were doing.

There’s a bear! There’s a bear!

Like many others, this village was totally abandoned and only recently repopulated, with a current population of only 18 people. Feral Pigeon – Columba livia dom. House Sparrow – Passer domesticus. Tree Sparrow – Passer montanus. Eurasian Sparrowhawk – Accipiter nisus.

Birding Sarajevo or the sentimental journey home

The road was new, the only sign of the recent times were bullet holes in a few abandoned houses, but that was a rare sight. While heading to the Croatian sea coast I did pass through the city’s railway station a few times in the 1980s, the last time I spent some time in Sarajevo when I was still a kid. No other scars were visible.
