Luckily, I met with wildlife staff from Eglin Air Force Base as part of my job, and they agreed to take me on one of their nest surveys. It is important to note that I would never have approached the nest without the wildlife staff, as doing so inevitably bothers the parents. Snowy Plover Chick.

Aldea also received a National Wildlife Federation Certified Community Wildlife Habitat designation, so the community’s goal is not only to see how many nesting pairs we can count, but also to improve the habitat. But a Bewick’s Wren did build a nest, which it promptly abandoned before laying any eggs.

June 2, 2010 BP apparently bans workers from showing dead or dying wildlife and from talking to the press. The babies that hatched from these eggs were released on Florida’s east coast. Several times we were forcibly removed by security personnel from photographing scenes like these.
