This was the month we (in the northern hemisphere) had all been waiting for, but what a strange month May 2020 has been. 149 checklists were submitted, accounting for 465 species. You may notice a few non-commital “sp” entries and/or a few domestic/feral/hybrid forms. Palm Tanager (Thraupis palmarum).

Kasia Rinkai Park on Tokyo Bay will host the slalom canoeing events for the upcoming (correct at time of writing) Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020. As I looked again with my binoculars, I noticed a feral cat close to where the bird had been and presumed that this must have been what put the bird to flight.

They contributed 150 lists accounting for 1032 species and more than 36,000 individual birds. Thus 100 species were missed by the time he woke up and noticed that eBird had reset the counters at midnight(do you guys have nothing better to do?). They came home exhausted. The life list was pumped a further 27 sp up to 3953.
