This is good news, and especially so for birders. There’s no accounting for taste.

All right, I’ll admit it. I’m feeling pretty good about myself right now. 2020 yielded a single sighting; 2019, two; 2018, four. In 2018, I took a photo of what I thought was a trio of Dowitchers on Lake Cuitzeo. So yes, I am feeling pretty good right now. It means something. It is good to be the king.

So, I can go right to the description of Larus canus heinei on page 78, but I need to scan the photo captions to find the gull depicted on pages 83 and 84. Princeton University Press, 2018. Browsing through this book is tough.
