ORLANDO, FL (May 26, 2010) — Open Wide! Until recently, the population of tawny frogmouths in North American zoos was facing extinction — and breeding programs were largely unsuccessful. SeaWorld worked with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) to develop a program to sustain the species’ growth.

The species was bred at the zoo of Memphis, Tennesee ( source ). Apparently, King Parrot are an Australian grindcore band formed in Melbourne in 2010. I guess the females feel that the blue of the bower treasures works well with their eyes. If you think that Beethoven’s 9th Symphony is his best one, you are wrong.

Though the third-most densely populated county in the United States (as of the 2010 census, thank you Wikipedia), about 25% of Bronx land is open, public space. Natural areas include Pelham Bay Park, Van Cortlandt Park, Woodlawn Cemetery, New York Botanical Garden, and the Bronx Zoo. It’s a very mixed chapter.

Mother and baby are currently in an area out of guest view so they can be closely monitored by zoo staff to ensure the baby is nursing and growing properly. Yellow-billed Stork portrait (note the pink flush indicating breeding status), Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania by Adam Riley The Yellow-billed Stork has a closely-related sister species in Asia known as Painted Stork. During breeding season, their white plumage turns a delicate pink color, a lovely sight indeed.
