Dead Sea Lions in Puget Sound - Again

Here's the whole story from the Washington Post National. Washington wildlife officials say eight sea lions have been found dead in the Puget Sound region in recent weeks — all apparently shot. This has happened before. I don't know whether these are disgruntled fishermen or regular jerks.

Before my trip to Washington the only species of puffin I had ever seen in the wild was the puffin of the Atlantic Ocean, the appropriately named Atlantic Puffin. Having flown to Washington State on a family vacation the first obstacle was easily out of the way, which you knew already if you ever read this blog. I love puffins.

My First West Coast Pelagic Trip

I’ve been on a whale-watching trip in Orange County , twice gone out to Santa Cruz Island , and even visited Protection Island off the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. At the end of the trip I had seen five life birds, three life cetaceans, and a life seal. Now I had come close to doing pelagic trips out west before.
