Mount Baldy, more properly though less popularly known as Mount San Antonio, is no exception. The highest point in Los Angeles County, at 10,068 feet (3,069 meters), it is a refuge in all seasons, considering the ski area carved out of its eastern flank, which is actually in San Bernardino County.

In February of 2013, I wrote a piece outlining my thoughts on which exotic bird species should be added to the American Bird Association (ABA) checklist. In 2014, the Florida Ornithological Society Records Committee (FOSRC) voted to add this species to the Florida state list. The ABA Checklist Committee quickly followed suit.

Next stop was a night in San Antonio, where I am afraid, after a mediocre meal at a BBQ join next to our hotel, I went straight to bed. are up next, with a wonderful Australian species: It is very hard to choose a Best Bird of the Year any year. The male of this species has a royal blue throat, a white chest and rump, and a long v-shaped tail with intermittent white patches that makes it looks like part of it are floating in space. Back in Costa Rica, walks through coffee and fields near the house, and a few other day trips have upped the list to 250 species. The year has just started, there are hundreds of other bird species to look for, I wonder if I can reach 700 species for Costa Rica by December 31st? White-eyed Vireo! .
