The other sub-species, Calidris canutus roselaari , migrates along the Pacific Coast and breeds in Alaska and the Wrangel Island in Russia. Where suitable habitat exists, sea level rise is expected to increase efforts to stabilize the shore and protect coastal development with hard structures, such as sea walls and jetties.
