Pahokee Opens for Project Treadstone

Animal Person

They will spay/neuter, vaccinate, tip ears and microchip , and they do not test. The cats are getting harder to trap, and I think even if I finally were able to get the spay RV from up north I don't see how I could trap 30 cats in a day at this point no matter how many people volunteer to help. And what's a week at Project Treadstone without the obligatory black cat. What the heck is Pahokee, you ask? If you click on this map , you'll see.

Yet More Good News for Project Treadstone

Animal Person

She said her Trapper Man could go to the Project Treadstone site--last night and this morning--and trap up to 10 cats that she would bring to Pahokee. However, she does have people who can help, and now that Pahokee's open they will focus some time each week on Project Treadstone! Regarding Adam's comment yesterday about low-cost spay/neuter, the reason this particular one is low-cost is that it is subsidized by the county and city (and maybe State, I'm not sure).

On Project Treadstone and Welfare, OED-Style

Animal Person

Project Treadstone If anyone in Palm Beach County wants to get involved in the Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) of feral cats, now is the time, as the county's Spay Shuttle is back in business (but for a whopping $40/cat rather than the original $15), and Pahokee ($25/cat) is open as well.

Powder Puff, RIP, and More

Animal Person

Stephanie posted the first of a series of guest posts by yours truly about TNR and Project Treadstone over at her immensely popular site at Change.org. Speaking of Project Treadstone, Powder Puff, seen below, died over the weekend. My only hope is that other kitties at Project Treadstone aren't suffering someplace hidden. There is a Spay-Around-the-Clock coming up, and I'm signing up to volunteer.

Project Treadstone. Click on Project Treadstone above and see what happens! You Today is the launch of. I'm excited to be a blogger for Animal Rights Zone because its target market is people who don't usually subscribe to blogs. Also, it has the added bonus of organizing my content better than I have. The goal is to provide blogospheric content that is easy to find, and from a variety of sources. On the left, you'll see this: Concepts. Responsible Policies. Rabbits.

On Dominance and Animal Birth Control

Animal Person

When taking the issue to simplest common denominator, spaying/neutering is essentially exercising human dominance over non-human animals. mikey, my stance can be seen in the posts about Project Treadstone (and if you type Project Treadstone into the Google Search box just below my half-blind, diabetic greyhound, Violet Rays, on the right, you'll get a dozen more posts).

Creature Update

Animal Person

From the feral cats of Project Treadstone to Charles' back surgery to problems with Violet's Vetsulin (insulin for dogs), we had more than our share of issues. As for Project Treadstone, after several false starts, trapping, spaying and neutering will resume next week. As many of you know, 2009 was chock full of creature-related drama for me.
