I credit Will Potter as the catalyst for shifting my focus away from critiques of other activists and activist groups (particularly his post, " While the Government Continues Attacks on Activists, Animal Rights Groups Protest Each Other " back in 2008). I'm not saying that criticism of PETA, or any other group, isn't warranted. But that's me.

And in retrospect, all that did was present me as someone who appeared to have a need to be different or special, and a need for everyone to know what I believed in, whether or not they even cared. Part of me wants to see those posts out of curiosity, and the other part writes him off instantly and withdraws any previous credit given because he so obviously does not understand what animal rights is and doesn't know that many vegans and animal rights activists see their cause as one of a handful that are all connected.

One argument is this: The present practice of treating animals used for food is immoral and should be changed. So, if one wants to change the present practice, the best means is to stop eating meat. First, it is dubious that becoming a vegetarian would have much effect on present practice. One ought to adopt the best means.
