While birders were out birding the coast of Queens on Friday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay hit New York City, Corey was stuck working. Fortunately, there is whale-watching happening on the American Princess, out of Brooklyn, but spending lots of times in Queens waters. How about you?

My parents made the drive down to New York City to visit Daisy, Desi, and me in Queens on Sunday and I had a great plan for the day. Whale-watching! In addition to my family I was also joined on the boat by Isaac Grant, who regular readers of this blog will recall as the birder doing a New York City big year.

Way back in March we were in the midst of a global pandemic and Queens was the epicenter of the epicenter that was New York City. Fortunately, there are birds to help.

Upland Sandpiper – 23 Jun 2013 – Found by Isaac Grant at the Edgemere Landfill in the midst of Isaac’s New York City big year. Cory’s Shearwater – 06 Oct 2013 – Going on a whale-watching trip with my family really paid off. The last of the regularly expected owls in Queens.
