Our bus ride to the train that would take us to the boat launch led through monoculture pineapple plantations being sprayed with pesticides that were not a pretty sight, but the view of the sun breaking through the clouds over the mountains (like in the picture above) was inspiring. Not only that, but we had a train ride to look forward to!

Finding an Asian Openbill in Singapore-second ever record!

Arriving in Singapore we soon collected our bags and got ourselves a NETS card for travel on public transport and to also use in supermarkets. The train system is fast and efficient and was our primary mode of transport. If the train did not go all of the way then we took a connecting bus or walked.

In fact, we saw two species of monkey, our only sloths, lots of coatis, and my rarest ever mammal sighting—a Jaguarundi —right on site. TRANSPORTATION. You’ll get the best monkey sightings of your life along with certain birds like Snail Kites and Limpkin , which are Gatun Lake specialties. Howler Monkey. Way too common!
