It's a TLC show about humans that adopt monkeys and treat them as their children. Monkey business is big business in the United States, where some people pay up to $5,000 to adopt a monkey of their own, often a capuchin monkey, which can grow up to 22 inches and 9 pounds. Who suffers? This is seriously weird stuff.

Sounds like she watched a harsh video. Former Baywatch star and model Pamela Anderson has accused one of India's most prestigious research centres of animal cruelty, urging it to retire decades-old test monkeys and adopt humane practices. Her letter to the Indian research facility is pretty distressing.

Soon we were out of the protected harbour and into choppier waters, and here I have to say I suffered for about two hours from the dreaded affliction known as sea-sickness. As we left the long harbour there were plenty of inshore seabirds such as gannets, shags, gulls and terns. Wicked, right?

There are are presently thought to be five species of kiwi with a possible sixth extinct species, all of which have suffered varying degrees of range contraction since the arrival of humans. For all its cultural ubiquity in New Zealand, actually seeing a wild kiwi is actually quite a challenging proposition for a birder. Wicked, right?

You can also see the owl not moving much in a short video. If you are suffering from depression, you just have found another reason to go birding. Red-billed Blue Magpies are occasionally eaten by snub-nosed monkeys. It did not seem to bother the owl much though. Oh, the excitement.
