Birding Nonggang, Guangxi, China – part 1

The Nonggang Babbler ‘s claim to fame is having only been discovered in 2008 (as a meaningless reference, it should be added that the first iPhone was released in 2007, one year earlier). Spot the reference? ) Presumably, Grey-throated Babblers are not very fond of monkeys, especially the (potentially misnamed) Grey Leaf Monkey.

Birding Shanghai in April 2023

To be honest, both the robin and the flycatchers shown above remind me of the easter eggs I hunted for as a child – the same strong colors in front of a green background, same time of the year (feel free to insert your own Proust Madeleine reference here) … Bluethroats apparently are good at imitating other birds.

Hong Kong Trip Report: February 2014

Do your research. We saw what David Diskin refers to as Goodson’s Leaf Warbler at Tai Po Kau. This species is also referred to as Striated Yuhina or Collared Siva , but I best prefer Chestnut-collared Yuhina , which describes the bird’s most obvious marks. Monkey at a monastery. So don’t be afraid!
