After a lot of backing and forthing, the vendor accepted our offer and the wood is to become a trust to be protected in perpetuity. The real upside is that it is right by my house and the Tawny Owls occasionally stray into my oak tree at night. There will probably be environmental studies and enhancements to encourage wildlife.

“Gamebirds” to some, cool, cryptic understory birds to the birding people, grouse crouch protected as unfettered winds sway the top of the tall prairie grass. Even so, he still knew many species and always yearned to learn about the wildlife he encountered. Grouse are the chickens we would love to lay eyes on. Bushwacking?

You soon adapt to the early mornings and early nights to coincide with the wildlife! At high tide the shorebirds have a protection wall where they can roost on green lawn and feel safe. The absolute highlight was when I heard leaf litter being thrown about. One lovely campsite!
