Not long ago, I posted a list of the 25 best National Wildlife Refuges for birding. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has published a list of NWRs that have been created or expanded with Duck Stamp funds. Parker River NWR (Massachusetts): 97.7%. And the U.S. The longer answer is below. Laguna Atascosa NWR (Texas): 86.3%.

But in the fall (with plumage as in the photo on the left, above) they take an entirely different, and heroic, route, first to Massachusetts and then, after a rest, south over the Atlantic Ocean.
