Little boys kill thousands of birds each year with slingshots. Other birds are purposefully poisoned because they are agricultural pests.

People would often express surprise that I, someone that cared about wildlife conservation, would eat meat. The island was being ravaged by rabbits that were destroying every last tree, threatening the future of three lizards and two snakes. Not from an environmental perspective but from a “don’t you like animals?”
