The relevant numbers involving cats, the people that cherish them, and the birds (and small mammals and reptiles) that they kill are all too large to mean much; you might as well use the funny word “gazillions.” And keeping cats, natural hunters, indoors is, as a matter of biology and of common sense, not the healthiest state for them.

Even though the English name may indicate that it mainly feeds on crests, it really mostly eats reptiles, primarily tree snakes (HBW). If you are afraid of spiders, you might want to get a pet Streaked Spiderhunter. This species is fairly widespread, with 21 subspecies, some of which may eventually turn out to be full species.

And for rodents and reptiles as well. This almost certainly can be argued to be true just on the basis of logic, because feral Cats are proficient hunters and are entirely out of ecological place.
