I remember taking an advanced seminar in plant-animal interaction, in preparation for my own study of human-plant interactions. European Starling in New York City trying to bum a cigarette (photo by Corey, from HERE ) But I digress. Insects ruled. We spent most of the rest of the semester dealing with grasshoppers.

Birding With Alligators

As a resident of New York City the only predator I am ever concerned about while birding near my home is other people. According to Wikipedia : Alligators are capable of killing humans, but are generally wary enough not to see them as a potential prey. Though alligator attacks are rare they do happen.
