Something was clearly badly wrong with both of his back legs, I’m no vet, but I would guess they had both been broken. Support Wildlife ACT in supporting them. Her concern was well founded.

Dedicated keepers at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Elephant Nursery in Kenya protect baby Shukuru from the cold and rain, and the risk of pneumonia, with a custom-made raincoat. A mobile vet unit was able to tranquilize her, clean her wounds, and extract the spear. Her deep wounds were filled with maggots.
