The “Crow Down” is a “hunting contest” where both adults and children slaughter as many crows as they possibly can in two days. It also brings to mind the uncontested link between animal abuse and violent behavior toward fellow humans.

She portrays humans merged with Passenger Pigeons; the images are then framed to look like 19th century calling cards. It’s an effective introduction. This is not that kind of book, as Fuller makes clear from the beginning.
