Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary was an amazing and unexpected treat, but that’s because I failed to do my research. The sanctuary is of global importance, a complex of mudflats, salt marsh, coastal prairie uplands and open beach owned and managed by Houston Audubon Society. They did flush eventually, but not because of humans.
