” It comes as no surprise then that the governor proclaimed the Brown Thrasher the state bird in 1953 , and the legislature followed suit in 1970. Though large, these thrashers are hard to see, guaranteed to win any game of hide and seek. The team has since been moved to Canada, but the state bird remains a celebrated symbol.
