Tika and her longtime mate, Kobuk, had raised eight litters of puppies together and were enjoying their retirement years in the home of my friend, Anne. I wondered what in the world he’d brought back and discovered the wet ball of fur was a very young bunny. As we all know, dogs are “man’s best friend.”

Surprisingly, it is also a funny–no, a hilarious–story of readjusting to single life after 25 years in a relationship. What a perfect name for such a cherub of a dog. She’s gentle.
