Just know that the way you present yourself largely dictates who is going to visit your blog.

On "High in the Clouds"

I understand this is a children's book, but particularly if you're trying to be a voice for animals, it would behoove you to make connections that might be missed otherwise. For instance, the animals are enslaved. I'm giving the book a vegan/animal rights message because that's my lens. Or any vegan message.

Clarification on Messaging

Vegan education/advocacy for animals is easiest for me when I know my audience. And right now, Mercy for Animals' Farm to Fridge Tour is doing that, too, in addition to picketing and getting mainstream media exposure for the short film. PETA's been using horrifying images for years. I don't think any of that was wrong, per se.

And in retrospect, all that did was present me as someone who appeared to have a need to be different or special, and a need for everyone to know what I believed in, whether or not they even cared. Big fail here for Animal Person. I didn't do the right thing for Animal Person. Lesson #17 Treat your blog like a business.

And not all organizations that advocate for animals claim to have a "genuine environmentalist ethic," and the ones that do must subscribe to his ethic or they're not genuine? than with any genuine concern for species diversity or even animal welfare." For an attorney, that's awfully weak. And one of that handful is the environment.

Steiner might feel less lonely as an ethical vegan—he says he has just five vegan friends—if he recognized that he has allies in mere vegetarians (like me), ethical omnivores and even carnivores. If the goal is not moral perfection for ourselves, but the maximum benefit for animals, half-measures ought to be encouraged and appreciated.
