Without further ado, here are our Best Birds of the Year for 2015… Jochen makes us all jealous with a bird that most of us would kill to see. 2015 was challenging, at best, on a personal level but it was a fantastic year for birds in New York City. 2015 was great and here’s hoping 2016 will be even better.

Its goal was to limit the greedy collecting of birds killed for the plume trade, the bird meat trade (as in the wholesale slaughter of the Passenger Pigeon), and for sport (again, the Passenger Pigeon and declining numbers of waterfowl). Treaties trump state laws. Congress and Senate who recognized the need to protect the birds.
