The Plain Sunbird is the plain vanilla version of the otherwise often very colorful family (ok, a very low-budget sort of joke). Both are part of what one paper calls the Brown Hawk Owl complex – something that is much less objectionable than the military-industrial complex but (at least to me) not really a lot more interesting.
