This time I’ll be working with Wildlife ACT in Zululand, helping that NGO monitor wildlife in a range of reserves and parks in the east of South Africa. I bring this up not to boast (well, not much) but because I think that this approach to wildlife travel is somewhat neglected in birding circles. I still have that marker.

Life Along the Delaware Bay starts with a brief cultural history of the Bay, showing the sod dikes farmers built to drain the marshes, and how Cape May went from being a whaling town to a Victorian beach resort to the home of the Cape May Hawk Watch. They use the photographs as part of the textual flow. Ah, the photographs!

Suzie wrote about her experiences as a bird rehabber in Flyaway: How A Wild Bird Rehabber Sought Adventure and Found Her Wings (2009) and used those experiences as the source for her fictional children’s book, Hawk Hill (1996).
