The Black Kite ( Milvus migrans ) is ubiquitous as a scavenger across the whole of India, often seen by the hundred wheeling over towns. As a bittersweet afterthought, it was also the last bird I photographed in India before losing my sponsored travel opportunities.

I bought my first 20 years ago from some Russian on the seashore in Greece, but have not used it much because of rather dark images (I even took it to India with me – and didn’t use it even once). How to describe the experience in one word? This is not my first spotting scope. in which way? In every way!
